Rules
  • Create an original quilt based on Newport’s history from 1918-2018.  The entire quilt must be no larger that 18” by 18” including the binding.  Embellishments must not protrude more than ½” from the quilt.  Only one entry per person.  This contest is open to the public.  Your entry form and $10.00 entry fee are due  June 1, 2018.
  • The quilt may be made with any materials but must be quilted (by hand, machine, or both), consist of three layers, and bound or closed along the edges. 
  • Label your quilt on the reverse with your name and the title of the quilt.  On the back of the quilt, please mark the top.  A hanging sleeve is not required.
  • Your entry must be free of any text or images protected by copyright, unless you have the expressed written permission from the person or institution that holds that copyright, and you submit that with your entry. 
  • Judging criteria include: reflection of theme, quality of workmanship, overall impact and appearance, and originality.  Decisions of the judging committee are final.
  • Entries will be displayed during the North Country Quilters Quilt Show in Newport, VT from June 30 - July 1, 2018.  Winning quilts will be on display throughout the entire Centennial Celebration, June 30 through July 8th.
  • Entry fee is $10.00.  Drop off and pick up are the responsibility of the owner and will be determined at a later date. 
  • Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.  Two quilts will be recognized for Honorable Mention and receive ribbons.  Additionally, Quilt Show attendees will vote on a People’s Choice quilt.
